Home Automation

This is an area that I always enjoy and I really need to start updating some of my systems to the newer technologies.

Here is a great way to control my home even when I'm not around.  I think this would be a great thing to have and beats my current dumb controller system.  It also offers the capability of adding an IP camera and viewing what is going on in the house when I'm not there. Insteon Central Controller.

I really need a couple light and appliance controllers: These LampLinc controllers will not only control the lights that I have turn on every evening, but they will also act as Access Points and make the whole system work a little better.  I only need 2 of these two have everything work real well.  This can usually be found on Amazon also.

This Appliance Module will work great for my automatic curtains.  I only need 1 of these

Here is a really cool idea and it cleans up a lot of the home automation mess.  This 8W LED bulb has all the smarts built right into its base and it shines as bright as a 60W bulb.  Since it can be dimmed it can also act as a 40 or 25 W bulb.  Since it is an LED it should last virtually forever so even if the bulb is $30 it saves on both electricity and bulb replacements.  I think I could use a couple of these :)  Networked Light Bulb; 2 of these would be awesome

An IP Camera.  It would be great to have one of these things to connect into my overall home automation system.  Normally I don't mind leaving my house by itself, but last week my door was left wide open for a couple days.  Luckily a neighbor came and checked on things for me and shut and locked the door.  It would be nice to have a motion detection Camera that can pan and zoom so I can check the front door and major appliances when I am away from home.  A camera like this one would be good, but there are many similar ones out there that may be cheaper.

Finally it would be good to have a physical remote control that I can hold in my hand to make this stuff work.  The iPhone controller will be more useful but I worry that it won't always work properly so having a direct connection would take a lot of frustration out of the system.
